The ‘Legible London Signs’ are not all bad…

• I DO not agree with Linda Chung on the “Legible London Signs”, (Extra clutter on the street, June 14). These “obelisks” are quite useful to many visitors; not all of us have a smartphone to look at Google Maps on the street.

I struggle to read tiny print on the conventional A-Z London maps, even with reading glasses, especially when it is dark. I’m sure I’m not the only one!

I found the signage very helpful when I visited Bath recently, being larger than a map, more comprehensible, and showing proximity only, indicating where I was.

But I see sign poles bent, twisted and pointing in wrong directions in and around Camden. This is confusing to tourists.

Near my house tourists (visitors) consult one of these signs at the junction of Phoenix Road and Chalton Street to walk between Euston and King’s Cross St Pancras stations, or to reach Camden Market from stations. As a local do-gooder (or busybody), I often assist them.
