Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer with Mike Katz 

• MIKE Katz, chair of the Jewish Labour Movement, is celebrating the new Sir Keir Starmer Labour Party where Jewish members are almost five times more likely to be accused of anti-Semitism than non-Jewish members, (Jewish members no longer feel unwanted in the Labour Party, October 14).

Many Jewish people have been investigated, suspended, or expelled, and many others have left in disgust. Mr Katz is purring!

An overwhelming majority of delegates to Labour conference voted for an investigation into Israeli war crimes, for sanctions and an arms embargo, and for the Palestinian right of return.

The party leadership immediately and publicly dissociated itself from the membership.

The members had voted against supporting a racist, militarist, Zionist, state, which in Gaza intermittently bombs civilians, including medics, specialises in destroying houses, hospitals, press buildings, crops; making even Gazan air, water, and soil toxic.

Mr Katz must not underestimate Jewish and other anti-racist campaigners who have a long experience of confronting the right.

We are part of the worldwide, non-violent, Palestinian-led, boycott movement which blocks Israeli Zim ships from unloading their cargo; calls out the Jewish National Fund for its central role in apartheid; and puts a spotlight on Elbit which has dropped taking Palestine Action to court because the Israeli arms industry may have to sit through their crimes being enumerated under oath!

Israel’s Worldwide Role in Repression has published many of the dictatorships, juntas, death squads and even genocidists that Israel have helped arm (one of the most recent the Myanmar military’s genocide of the Rohingyas).

The Labour Party is haemorrhaging members but the anti-racist movement, including for Palestinian liberation, is growing.
