The increase in the cost of parking permits is legal greed

Thursday, 17th September 2020

• THE cost of a Camden resident parking permit for a small saloon car has increased from £100.44, charged in 2018-2020, to £171.03 for 2020-2021.

For a car over 1,500cc the cost increases substantially. The 2016-2018 permit cost was marginally under £100.

Camden Council controls 36,000 pay-for-parking spaces and parking tickets have surreptitiously increased to £80 (£40 if paid within 14 days) with parking charge increases several times a year.

Camden parking is more expensive than anywhere in central London and arguably the most expensive borough to park in. It’s legal greed.
