The Hampstead Neighbourhood Plan referendum is on June 21
Thursday, 26th April 2018
• MOST people don’t really think about planning law unless they want to construct something or their neighbour does. But planning law shapes the places where we live, not only our homes but also our neighbourhoods, our high streets and our green spaces.
Four years ago we began consulting on a set of new planning laws for Hampstead. People told us what they loved – green, leafy spaces; and what they didn’t – traffic, over-development, basements; and we set about drafting a plan that would address these concerns.
The result of these efforts by the local community produced the Hampstead Neighbourhood Plan. This plan will shape how Hampstead develops over the next 15 years and will sit alongside Camden’s planning policies in guiding any new development.
The local community will decide on whether or not to adopt the plan in a public referendum to be held on June 21 2018. Everyone in the plan area will be eligible to vote in the usual way either at the polling station or by post.
More information about the Hampstead Neighbourhood Plan is on our website: www.hampsteadforum.org. We hope everyone who cares about Hampstead will come out to vote.
