The Green Party’s tactics after the May 2 elections raise questions
Thursday, 9th May 2024
• ON Thursday Siân Berry was elected to the London Assembly as she was first on the Green Party’s London-wide list.
Just three days later she resigned. She has explained that this is so that Zoë Garbett, their failed mayoral candidate, can enter the assembly, despite failing to secure a seat herself.
If it was so important for Zoë Garbett to be elected, the Green Party should have chosen to put her first on their list instead of this bait and switch.
Siân Berry, a few months back, resigned her position as a councillor in Camden because she is spending her time in Brighton where she is seeking to be elected to parliament. Why was she even standing for the London Assembly in this case?
