The EU referendum was supposedly advisory but it’s far too late to go back…

• TULIP Siddiq deserves great praise for her integrity and commitment as an MP (Tulip: Why I had to quit, February 2).
Unfortunately, though a constituent of hers and a remainer, I must agree with Keir Starmer about accepting Article 50.
The referendum was supposedly advisory but it’s far too late to go back. The majority vote, though small, was obtained by democratic means on an exceptionally high turnout. So, very sadly, Article 50 should be implemented (unless you think it was right to make certain countries repeat their referendums).
Let us hope that Opposition amendments will ensure the most effective possible safeguards.
