The environment needs to be the thread running through Labour’s policy agenda

• THIS week Holborn & St Pancras Labour Party is set to vote on a motion to send to Labour Party conference in September.

In my mind, the most important issue facing the country and the wider international community is the climate emergency.

The flooding in our communities within the last month is only the tip of the iceberg, and we are running out of time to make the drastic changes needed.

The Labour Party, at its first conference since our MP Sir Keir Starmer became leader, has the opportunity to set out a bold and radical green agenda.

The environment needs to be the golden thread running through Labour’s policy agenda and vision for the future and conference is the place to hammer that bedrock down.

I hope local party members will join me this week in supporting a “green” motion to conference so that Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour Party has the support it needs to hard-wire the Green New Deal into everything we do.
