The council’s questions are questionable…

• IT is not just pseudo consultations that Camden holds, but it also poses pseudo questions.
Take the one in the latest Gospel Oak Haverstock Community Vision consultation. We are asked if we want “A safer environment for all”.
Who would reply that they wanted to continue living in an environment of violent and fatal gang conflict, flagrant drug dealing, broken pavements and street furniture, a potholed crescent, blocked drains, a massive non-building site, fly-tipping and the closure of a much-valued primary school, to name but a few?
Yet this has been the condition of much of our environment for well over five years.
My two questions would be: “In view of the council totally ignoring the last 1,000-respondent consultation on the vision for our area five years ago, don’t you think this one will receive the same treatment”?
Secondly “Do you agree that council cabinet members who voted themselves a £10,000 increase in their allowances in 2019 should hand these back in view of their total failure to address our problems”?
Of course, it is only council officers and their well-paid consultants that get to ask the questions.
