The council’s green bond initiative is welcome

• IT was great to see the news that Camden Council has been praised for its environmental record, with our area being ranked fifth out of more than 300 councils in England on its green progress.
All the work on planting trees, building environmentally-friendly homes and cycle lanes is making a real difference across our borough and across London.
The statistics speak for themselves – according to InYourArea, Camden will be spending around £2.37 per person this year on environmental issues compared with the national average of 97p.
I was particularly impressed by the recent announcement about the council planning to create Camden Climate Bonds, so local people can buy a stake in decarbonising our community and making Camden more green.
There can be no doubt that the Labour leadership on Camden Council is taking issues around our climate very seriously, even in the face of cuts and opposition.
So let’s get behind them and go even further. Let’s use this exciting green bond initiative to invest in greener streets with more electric vehicle charging points, trees, and cycle hangars. I’m sure this is going to make a real difference.
