Nick Harding in Prince of Wales Road

• WHAT’S up with Camden Council?

There doesn’t seem to be any problem with processing planning applications, but when it comes to answering emails, what has happened?

A month or so back, Nick Harding was featured in the CNJ, (Ombudsman puts a limit on your right to be consulted, March 6).

He had questioned Camden’s failure to properly consult on changes to Prince of Wales Road – specifically the removal of pedestrian islands on a busy road where pedestrians have been killed by speeding cars.

His objection was rejected, because he lives more than 100 yards from the road!

I feel strongly that there has to be a balance between the needs of walkers, bikers and drivers in any road scheme, and as one of these groups was not properly represented in the Prince of Wales Road consultation, and as I live less than 50 yards from it, I raised the question again with “Regeneration” at Camden.

Absolutely no response, which suggests to me that Camden knows it has made an error in the consultation process.

In the meantime the works go on…

I’m calling for a halt to works until this is settled, probably by the ombudsman. But it needs Camden to respond. But as it doesn’t, work in Prince of Wales Road just sails ahead.
