The council should listen to the Talacre friends group

• THE council’s parks department met the committee of the Friends of Talacre Town Green to discuss tearing down the wooden climbing structure on the southern end of the park.

Many people requested the structure be replaced like-for-like but were told there was no money.

You might imagine their surprise when last week a poster went up about plans for expensive metal gym equipment instead.

The friends had suggested a more modest picnic area. We even offered to raise funds to help make that possible.

The council ought to work closely with the friends and listen to what they have to say. If a consultation is needed it should offer the choice of a gym or a picnic scheme. Which is why the friends of Talacre Town Green now appeal to New Journal readers.

You can write directly to: groundsmaintenance@camden.gov.uk or contact the friends at glastontown@gmail.com or send a letter to Solar House 50-56 Talacre Road NW5 4LX. You might also encounter some of us in the park asking for your comments.
