The council must acknowledge a ceasefire needs to happen now
Thursday, 29th February 2024
• WE seek them here, we seek them there.
We seek them everywhere.
Where are they?
Are residents of Camden aware that their councillors are cancelling surgeries at the last minute, relocating to different addresses to hold surgeries, and threatening to walk out of a consultation if the issue of Palestine is raised.
This is appalling behaviour by those elected to represent us.
I don’t recall that happening at the time when the Russia/Ukraine war started or the badly handled evacuation of Afghanistan when again others needed our support.
There is also the question of Camden’s investments.
I believe Camden are in breach of international law as reportedly they have £34million of pension fund money invested in Israel, a country where there is a plausible case to answer in respect of genocide being committed on the people of Gaza.
The council needs to acknowledge that a ceasefire needs to happen now, no ifs no buts, now. And they need to withdraw the money from the pension fund.
