The council and taxpayers deserve better value with work on our estates
Friday, 8th May 2020
• I WAS so pleased to read Camden Council have “significant concerns” and “this is taxpayers’ money”.
The work done on our estate “The Better Homes Scheme” (joke?) a few years ago is still being put right.
Most of the fittings were end-of-line job lots, an employee admitted that to me when caught off guard.
One tenant was told not to lean on the new bathroom sink as it “wouldn’t take any weight”. The old solid sinks with metal supports and in good condition were replaced. List as long as your arm.
Yes, it is our money and contracts should be gone into in more depth and supervised properly, to make sure the council and the taxpayers are getting proper value for money.
For too long the attitude that “It’s only council work, charge them top whack” has been ignored.
