The C2 bus really is a favourite
Thursday, 23rd August 2018
• THE C2, which TfL wants to withdraw from service, is a favourite with everyone I know who uses it, and among the regulars, almost a community bus, (Save the C2 bus!, August 16).
But who will speak up for the 88, an unloved and unlovely Boris bus, which, like all of its breed, is a bakehouse in summer and friendly as a tomb in winter?
The 88’s most memorable characteristic is that at one end of its route. It sits stubbornly at the bus stop nearest Camden tube station, blocking the way for passengers who have to dash past and behind it to catch the C2, 214 or 134 and travel northwards.
If TfL had an ounce of sensitivity (or wit) they wouldn’t abolish the C2. And they would extend the 88 north to Parliament Hill Fields. They’d extend the C2 south to Clapham.
