The bins are overflowing and Labour has broken a manifesto promise

• LITTER bins in Highgate and across Camden often overflow.

On Sunday alone the bins on Kingswear Road and Croftdown Road, Gordon House Road, Grove Terrace and Dartmouth Park Road were all overflowing.

The council themselves admit that litter and rubbish “ruin” the look of our streets and costs “millions to clear up”. People rightly expect the council to empty litter bins regularly.

Given that overflowing little bins are already a problem in Highgate why are Camden cutting rubbish collections for residents? Labour promised in their manifesto before the last elections to “maintain weekly recycling and waste collection service for all”. It’s not right to break this promise and it isn’t fair.

Everyone who cares about protecting Highgate is already annoyed by overflowing litter bins. The council’s change to rubbish collections will surely only make this problem even worse.
