Ahmed Serhani
• I WAS delighted to read that Ahmed Serhani, “London’s friendliest bus driver” is a film star (New Journal, November 8).
I have been on the 214 driven by him on several occasions. It is not that he is just friendly but his personality makes everyone on the bus jolly and friendly. His 214 is a happy bus.
On one occasion he was driving towards Kentish Town when a lady wanted to get off at a bus stop nearest to Gospel Oak station, which was not on the route.
She got off the bus and he drove slowly next to her shouting instructions how to get there, when a man sitting at the back shouted out “Why don’t we take her there?” “Yes let’s do that.” we all shouted. Of course, we kept on the 214 route.
On another occasion I got off the 214 to get on to another bus which did not wait for me. Ahmed waved me back on to the 214 and followed the other bus closely, enabling me to get on to the bus at the next stop.
So it was thanks to Ahmed that I was on time for my hospital appointment. Ahmed is a remarkable man. I feel rejuvenated whenever I meet him.
