Thanks to the Met and the council for the fight against the drug dealing

Thursday, 15th November 2018

• I AM writing to express my and my members’ gratitude for the work of the Metropolitan Police Service, together with Camden Council, over recent times.

A few weeks ago we saw many arrests of suspected drug dealers. This week the arrival of the new, Camden Town Unlimited-funded and dedicated ward police officers in the area, led by Sergeant Dave Hodges, has seen a welcome spike in arrests and “discomfort” for some unwelcome familiar faces in and around the High Street.

The obvious energy, skill and enjoyment with which Sergeant Hodges’s team go about their work has already had a galvanising and co-ordinating effect on security teams in the area.

I know that this has been the result of much behind-the-scenes work by police, council and business representatives and I would like to thank them all for bringing their collective insight and weight to bear on this long-running problem.

Together with the CTU private security team we are making a real dent in the menace that is the open drug dealing on our streets. Long may it continue.
