Thanks for your vote

Cllr Linda Chung
• I WOULD like to express my enormous thanks to the people of Hampstead who voted in the July 7 by-election and say what an honour it is, once again, to be a councillor for Hampstead Town ward.
My commiserations also to my opponents. Politics can be a roller-coaster, but I think that we all wish to serve our community to the best of our ability.
I signed the declaration of acceptance of office on announcement of the result on Friday July 8 2022, and am already up and running on tackling the work needed to keep the pledges I and my Liberal Democrat colleagues have made; to work for a cleaner, safer environment, and better accountability for council services.
During this week I shall be tackling the ongoing issues that epitomise failures facing our historic streets and local businesses – rubbish left uncollected, and blocked and congested roads because of ongoing construction work. There is no co-ordination of services and a lack of enforcement control.
I shall be at the Camden Safer Neighbourhood Board annual general meeting and will also be working with one of my favourite charities on health and fitness.
I will be providing continuing local resident input into the O2 Centre development, where I had already expressed my concerns that Camden Council are not being clear enough to the developers that some parts of their scheme are not acceptable and against many of the national and local policies on greening, density, infrastructure, and quality of housing.
My colleagues and I will also be pursuing the mayor and Transport for London on the threats to our bus services. I use them all the time, they are vital services, and work should go into reducing overcrowding, improving safety, and better frequency at peak times, and certainly not to reduce many of the popular routes.
I can’t do this on my own, so will welcome hearing about your thoughts and personal experiences. I will listen to those who come to my advice surgeries, and I also value the input and experience of the amenity and resident groups.
Feel free to contact me at any time on linda.chung@camden.gov.uk, or call 07980 944927.
