A once-overlooked wilderness is being transformed by volunteer Viorel Fieran

• ON behalf of the community I’d like to thank an unpaid volunteer Romanian gentleman, Viorel Fieran, for his dedicated work over many months to single-handedly clear the wooded wilderness at the very top of Camley Street by Agar Grove.

It’s a triangular site about 50 metres long. To say it was an overgrown, thickly wooded, dump would be an understatement.

Camley Street by Agar Grove, work-in-progress

While it is still a work-in-progress Mr Fieran has made a massive difference in levelling and clearing the space prior to his plan to plant fruit trees etc.

I declare a particular interest in that I was the Camden councillor responsible for creating and driving through the construction of the Camley Street link for pedestrians and cyclists a decade ago.

It has opened up and humanised Camley Street, which was nigh a “no-go” area in the “noughties”.

Throughout this depressing year it has given me pleasure and pride to walk the Camley Street link through to King’s Cross and observe the clearance progress.

Well done and thank you Mr Fieran.
