Thank you for voting Labour
Friday, 30th July 2021
• A HUGE thank you to the 849 residents of Fortune Green ward who voted for me and my Labour values in the July 22 Fortune Green by-election.
Although I am, of course, disappointed to have not been elected to represent you as councillor, I am privileged to have received your support and, after speaking to hundreds of you on the doorstep, I am more determined than ever to continue to work hard for the community where I live and make a positive impact on people’s lives.
This was always going to be a tough election, let alone as a first-time candidate, following the Lib Dems’ decision to call a by-election in a seat they have held for more than 30 years.
Labour responded accordingly, with hundreds of activists and volunteers coming together from the local branch, constituency party and Camden to support me on the doorstep.
I’m enormously proud of the positive campaign we ran, focused on issues that are really impacting residents’ wellbeing and livelihoods.
From housing to unemployment to air pollution, I listened to hundreds of residents speak about the impact of the pandemic on their lives and explained how a Labour council can – and does – provide solutions to support them.
I am so pleased that Labour councillors Richard Olszewski and Lorna Jane Russell will continue to provide this support in their capacity as Fortune Green councillors and congratulate Nancy Jirira on her election.
I trust that she will work with them to make a difference to the community we are all so passionate about and want to see thrive.
LORNA GREENWOOD
Labour Candidate in Fortune Green By-Election, July 22
