Thank goodness you have gone, Adonis, take HS2 with you

Open letter to Lord Adonis of Camden Town

• LEGEND has it that you owe a huge debt to Camden Council which in the 1970s chose to pay for your excellent private boarding school education, despite your humble origins.

How do you repay your debt? With the legacy of HS2 blighting Camden for decades to come.

You have never offered yourself for democratic election, elitist snob that you are. Despite numerous invitations from within Camden to talk about HS2 I am aware of only one such outing – years ago at Swiss Cottage to an invited audience of Labour members.

You don’t even live in the borough. For many months I’ve had the mistaken misfortune of reading your tiresome verbal diarrhoea on Twitter, sometimes dozens a day, mainly ranting about vice-chancellors’ pay and Brexit but rarely about your actual day-job of Infrastructure supremo.

Thank goodness you’ve gone. Good riddance. Take HS2 with you to oblivion, why don’t you?
