• FOR four days last week Camden High Street was closed to all traffic by Thames Water contractors.

No work was carried out on the carriageway but all traffic was unnecessarily diverted, many thousands of bus journeys on major routes were disrupted, and ambulances and fire vehicles were sent on long detours thereby jeopardising people’s safety.

The reason for all of this disruption was in order to fit one water meter into the pavement. Two men worked for two hours each day. The whole job could easily have been completed in just one day.

Thames Water needs to be censured for their behaviour, as do Camden Council for not ensuring that Thames Water do not treat our community with such contempt.
