WELTERWEIGHT Kian “The Technician” Thomas proved a big hit Saturday when he beat Danny Donchev on his debut in the paid ranks.

The former William Ellis pupil, who grew up in Tufnell Park, wasted little time catching the eye as he dropped his opponent in the opening round with a left hook.

Kian then went on to dominate all four of the three-minute rounds to earn a unanimous 40-36 points victory, gaining maximum points off the judges at the Camden Centre in Euston.

The 23-year-old former St Pancras ABC fighter said his “dream debut couldn’t have gone any better” and  said that he’s already planning a return to the ring in May.

“Surprisingly I was very relaxed, I enjoyed the moment,” he said.

“More than 100 people came along to see me in action. They actually bought a ticket just to see me, and they were shouting my name.

“It was crazy, I have thought about that moment since I started as an amateur 10 years.”

Reflecting on his debut showing, Kian added: “I was nice and sharp with my jab, and he couldn’t handle it. He made it an awkward fight – but I stuck to the game plan and got the job done.”
