FRIENDS and former team-mates Freddie Winfield and Rufus Kempton were back together again on Saturday when QPR went head-to-head against Arsenal in the youth academy ranks.

Less than a year ago the talented duo, who both live in Islington, were playing on the same side in the Camden and Regent's Park Youth League as part of Pro Touch Soccer Academy (PTSA).

Having now both been snapped up by professional clubs – the weekend fixture was seen as “a very special marker” for PTSA.

The Under-11s showdown was especially sweet for hotshot Freddie, who scored against goalkeeper Rufus to help Arsenal win the game.

PTSA development coach Tony Blair said it was “a proud moment” for all involved. “It was great to hear that two old team-mates ended up back on the same pitch, but this time within the professional game,” he said.

“It couldn't have come at a better time for us with the academy celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

“It’s fantastic knowing that we've helped two promising young players take a tiny step closer to fulfilling their dreams.”

Pro Touch are planning to make 2016 their biggest year yet, with their squads having already been signed up to take part in competitions in England, Portugal, Spain, Denmark and Macedonia.
