Tattooing is not self harm or a disgusting practice
Thursday, 25th October 2018

Cllr Pat Callaghan
• SUZANNE Kendrick described Cllr Pat Callaghan’s tattoos as a “disgusting” practice – what a mean thing to say, (Don’t give publicity to this disgusting practice, October 18).
It is not “self-harm” if it makes you happy and more confident. That’s the opposite. The pictures you published did not look “disgusting”. They looked like very nice artwork and I was not surprised to read that she gets compliments in the street.
I had my first tattoo well into my 30s. It was not self-harm. I think we should say that tattoos are not just for the young any more. I bet there would be more readers who are a little bit older who would love to get one for lots of different reasons but are not as brave to get one as Cllr Callaghan.
Another letter from the previous week (Carry on tattooing… October 18) was correct and said she should get more if she wants one.
