Swimming: Medal stars clean up in the pool

TOP pool performers from Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club were out in force over the weekend as they captured a whole host of medals at two separate competitions.
A team of five swimmers struck double gold in their domination of the Milton Keynes Open Meet.
Hok Iao Wong, 14, led the charge by winning the 200m breaststroke and the 200m freestyle, while also enjoying double silver success in the 50m backstroke and the 50m butterfly.
His older brother Iao Pok Wong sprinted to victory in the 50m backstroke and the 50m butterfly.
Isobel Moffat continued her great form in the butterfly by taking gold over 50m and 100m, as well as a bronze over 200m.
Theo Sopel-Ellis won the 100m breaststroke in 1.11.50, smashing his previous personal best by 2.88 seconds.
He also won the 50m backstroke in 30.23 secs.
The medal count continued to climb with Bethany Jamieson winning the 50m and 100m breaststroke, while Peter Schlichter won the 400m individual medley and took silver in the 200m backstroke.
At just 12, Brennan Megregian was Camden’s youngest winner at the competition after taking gold in the 50m butterfly in 34.69 secs.
Brendan Comyn picked up two medals in the butterfly, winning the 200m race and taking silver in the 100m. Zachary Streat won the 50m freestyle and collected a creditable bronze in the 200m freestyle.
Aimee Nahal scooped no fewer than five silvers as she shone in the 50m, 100m, and the 200m backstroke, the 50m butterfly and the 200m individual medley.
Meanwhile Rowan Thomas and Dania Gnevko took silver medals in their respective 50m and 400m freestyle events, while Alex Panteli, Bryce Puszet and Murray Boyle all picked up bronze medals.
Slightly further from home a band of 13 intrepid swimmers returned to Sheffield just one week after the finals of the National Arena League for the Derventio Excel Level One Long Course Open Meet.
Swim star Indigo Mathews proved she is one of the club’s brightest young hopes for the future as she captured double gold, double silver and a bronze medal.
Setting no fewer than six new personal best long course times, the talented 12-year-old dominated the Olympic-sized 50m pool as she struck gold in the 200m and 400m freestyle in times of 2.17.00 and 4.47.35.
Indigo also celebrated silvers in the 100m and 200m butterfly, with her 100m mark of 1.10.74 recording a National Age Group qualifying time.
She wrapped up an impressive outing by finishing third in the 100m freestyle.
Olivia Willis, 14, put in a strong showing as she took gold in the 200m freestyle, silver medals in the 50m and 100m freestyle and the 100m butterfly and a bronze in the 400m individual medley.
James Slade sprinted well over 50m as he collected gold in the breaststroke, silver in the backstroke and bronze in the butterfly.
Jorgos Skotadis surged to gold in the 100m freestyle, won silver in the 50m butterfly, the 400m freestyle and the 400m individual medley and a bronze in the 200m individual medley.
Meanwhile, 11-year-old Segev Gonen-Cohen demonstrated maturity beyond his years as he won bronze in the 100m butterfly.
