Super squad from Camden Swiss Cottage make a splash at the National meet

A STRONG squad of young swimmers from Camden Swiss Cottage finished as runners-up in the opening fixture of this year’s National Junior Swimming League on Saturday.
Competing in the M11 division, the talented team scored 293 points as they finished within touching distance of winners Barnet Copthall, who scored 327 points at Southbury Leisure Centre in Enfield.
Fantastic five Gabriele Giavannoni, Keith Mara, Marliese Rittenhouse, Lauren Brantley and Abel Sinko-Uribe all won their respective races to take maximum points for the club, which boasts some of the best young swimmers from across Camden and Islington.
With every single swim counting, Rittenhouse, Sinko-Uribe, Callum Carlisle, Daniel Markov, Clementine Butler Brown and Amelia Sargent also all secured strong second place finishes.
The team also enjoyed success in the relays.
Giavannoni, Mara, Leo He and Theo Pliner joined forces to win the 9 and Under boys’ freestyle and medley races.
The 11 and Under boys’ freestyle squad of Carlisle, Konrad Georgescu, Mikhail Krasnoshcekiy and Cole McKechnie also finished in gold position. The 11 and Under girls’ medley team of Rittenhouse, Butler Brown, Sargent and Chloe Berko-Boateng and the 12 and Under boys’ freestyle quartet of Sinko-Uribe, McKechnie, Mika Fitzpatrick-Suen and Jonathon Novak were also victorious.
