Successive governments have turned a blind eye to vicious dog attacks

• YOUR report on American bully XL dogs indicates Camden Council still allows killer dogs to be kept on housing estates, (Camden urged to be first council to ban Bully XL dogs from its estates, February 29).
XL bully dogs are essentially fighting dogs that are easily triggered. They are difficult to control and need good training. This dangerous dogs crisis has existed since 1991.
Successive governments have turned a blind eye to the deaths and maiming of young children from vicious dog attacks. But everyone is at risk from dog attacks.
It’s a shame that so many are scarred for life due to lack of proper legislation, regulations, and enforcement. Dog licences were abolished in 1987 at a time when aggressive dogs were becoming a menace.
Dangerous dogs, criminal cops, domestic violence, pavement cyclists, illegal migrant invasions, corrupt politicians etc, are a sign of deteriorating standards.
