Brothers Luca, Liam and Luan show off their trophy haul with proud dad Sensei Raphael Veras

STRIKING siblings Luca, Liam and Luan Veras couldn’t have made their dad prouder on Sunday as they all medalled at the International Belgium Open Kumite Championships. 

The karate kids took on some of the best young fighters Europe has to offer at the Sportoase Philipssite in Leuven as they showcased their skills in the kumite category – a form of freestyle fighting or grappling. 

Luan, 11, dominated all six of his fights in the Under-12s Plus 33kg category as he powered his way to gold. Youngest of the trio, Luca, 8, was just as clinical as he beat all four of his rivals to win the Under-10s Plus 27kg category. 

Liam, 10, also fought brilliantly in all seven of his contests as he bagged bronze in the Under-12s Minus 33kg contest.
