Strange how HS2 survives amid all these terrible cuts

• I WONDER if the fact that the prime minister Rishi Sunak and chancellor of the exchequer Jeremy Hunt are both unelected by the people of this country affects the validity of the chancellor’s Autumn Statement?

Especially as it’s landed us with the biggest tax burden on the public purse since the 1940s.

Also, isn’t all of this dodgy business with the relentless persistence with High Speed 2 increasingly sinister?

When no one wants it (including their own Members of Parliament) and the money saved by scrapping it could put us all out of our cost of living misery in one fell swoop.

So why won’t the government give up this tainted, disgraced, bottomless pit that we clearly cannot afford?

The estimated cost to the taxpayer is now £155.52billion. And that comes on top of the terrible cost of living crisis that we are all having to endure. And we are going to be forced to pay for it for generations to come!

And given the government’s determination to get HS2 built regardless of the cost, I begin to think that there is something about this vile rail project that the government is not telling us.

Either way, it’s high time that all of the political parties joined forces to protect the people and their children, and put a stop to this pointless scam, once and for all.
