The importance of ‘No Mow May’

• DOES the council recognise the importance of “No Mow May” month?

Its usual “green spaces” care practice in the other 11 months is to strim and poison wild flower meadows, even those tended by volunteers. Along with this goes the destruction of the habitat of pollinators and other insects, even that of some small animals.

Publicity leaflets and reports of consultants, produced at great cost, boast of the importance of sustainability of the green environment. However many green spaces are being built on… or not, in the case of the non-building site, vacant for over 10 years in Gospel Oak.

Camden Council leaders pontificate about the High Speed 2 fiasco and its devastation of the green environment, while ignoring their own actions.

Could contractors at least be restrained from mowing in May, a small ask from those of us who would like to protect our diminishing green environment in the face of those in the council who produce paper policies but pursue destructive practices?
