HS2 copy

It’s still a question of tunnel vision on the HS2 ‘mistake’

• IN your August 3 edition, there were well observed points on High Speed 2, (Comment, HS2 gamblers can no longer see that red means stop).

However it added to my confusion since, on the same day, HS2 shoved a paper into my letterbox. I thought HS2 had paused their work in Camden. But HS2 with Thames Water are soon changing all the water pipes in Gloucester Avenue not far from me, to make way for HS2’s tunneling.

I’m curious. Who pays for that, HS2 or Thames Water? This terrifies me as when Thames Water changed the old pipes in my road the hydrant valve connected to the water main burst, and my house was majorly flooded.

Flood reinstatement in my basement was at immense cost. And in the reinstatement I fell off the builder’s hoist, more than an entire floor having to be pulled up by firefighters. Some bones were severed which led to my both hips having to be replaced a few years later.

Surely the HS2 employees have their savings increased by a hundred fold already, while the highest city property land has been seized, causing loss of green spaces. homes, businesses, and leaving many to live for years in turmoil.

Friends have told me that the two existing trains from London to Scotland were reasonable and pleasantly comfortable. This third north-south line is superfluous. Up north is where new train lines for freight and passengers are needed.

Let’s call a huge mistake, a huge expensive mistake already!
