THE Camden and Islington District football team tackled the big boys during their half-term break as they travelled to The Arena in Hertfordshire to play an academy side representing Luton Town.

The Under-15s squad gained valuable experience as they played 40-minute round-robin games against the League Two youngsters, along with an Under-16s team representing semi-professional outfit Hitchin Town FC.

Camden and Islington produced strong performances over the two games, holding Luton to a goalless draw and only succumbing to the older Hitchin Town side in the last 10 minutes.

Manager Jamie Houghton said: “We want to thank both Luton and Hitchin for their hospitality on the day. It was good for the development of our players to test themselves against a professional club’s academy and I think they enjoyed the experience.

“Luton’s coaches felt it was very worthwhile and want to do it again later in the season which is great.”
