MEMBERS from Camden Swiss Cottage Masters showed the youngsters how it should be done when they scooped a mighty medal haul at the National Short-Course Championships in Sheffield.

Donning their luminescent pink hats, the team of 29 veterans made new coach Samantha Russo extremely proud as they came away from the Steel City with 18 individual medals and nine relay medals.

Among the top performers was triple gold winner Susan Halter, who cut through the water to touch home first in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke.
Samantha Effemey also struck gold as she won the 200m and 800m freestyle and bagged a bronze in the 100m individual medley.

Oscar Rincon also enjoyed double medal success as he collected a silver in the 200m butterfly and a bronze in the 400m individual medley.

There was also silver success for Andrew Young, Ashley Anderson, Anna Fenton, Haukur Heimisson and Helen Close, while Sara Magrath, Chris Hopton, Neal Taylor and Maida Shivik all picked up bronze medals.

There was no doubt about the team of the day in the relay events as Effemey, Fenton, Close and Magrath joined up to win gold in both the 100-years-plus women’s 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle races.
