Station closure amounts to discrimination

Campaigners outside Kentish Town Underground Station which is closed for escalator works
• WITH the closure of Kentish Town tube station for a year, we learn that Transport for London is refusing to use this period to install a lift to enable access to the station by the disabled, (‘12 months of work and we’ll still not be able to use the tube’, June 23).
As a disabled user of public transport, I am amazed TfL can get away with this discriminatory attitude, particularly at a location that is so close to Camden’s Centre for Independent Living at the Greenwood Centre, used by the disabled community.
At the same time, hundreds of millions of pounds are being wasted on the HS2 train link to the north. There are few alternative transport facilities close by that are accessible; Tufnell Park has lifts but is not step-free so is not accessible.
TfL has managed to make the Overground relatively accessible so I don’t understand why they are being so obstructive at Kentish Town.
