HOLBORN and St Pancras MP Sir Keir Starmer is among the big name politicians who have swung around support for Met Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick following the Sarah Everard cases.
The Labour Party leader joins prime minister Boris Johnson, home secretary Priti Patel and London mayor Sadiq Khan with the view that she is best placed to make changes to the police.
“Cressida Dick is fit to continue,” he said in a firm defence for the police chief on Good Morning Britain.
“I’ve worked with Cressida over many years in relation to some very serious operations when I was director of public prosecutions. I was pleased that her contract was extended and I support her.”

Instead Mr Starmer called for an investigation into how killer Wayne Couzens “slipped through the net”, and for a new victim’s law.
Locally, Conservative leader Oliver Cooper , Lib Dem leader Luisa Porritt and the Green Party’s Sian Berry have all called for a fresh face to come in and review how to transform the Met.
