SLATTERY’S Squatters gave their chances of avoiding the drop a major fillip on Monday when they pocketed a terrific win over Sir Robert Peel B in Division One of the Chalk Farm Pool League.
With the threat of relegation looming over them, the Squatters showed tremendous battling spirit as they came back from 3-1 down to record a vital 5-4 victory.
Top potter Colin Austin (pictured) played his part with a crucial win in the doubles matches, while Chris Ramsay held his nerve to sink the black in the all-important ninth frame decider.
In Division Two, league newcomers The Boot notched up one of the biggest wins of the night after they beat Doyles Tavern 8-1. Players from Peckwater TA were also celebrating after beating King’s Cross Invaders 5-4 to keep their slim title chances alive.
