SPURS boss Andre Villas-Boas has told supporters not to worry about a slide down the table as the annual spring wobble isn’t going to happen on his watch.

Tottenham have lost three games in a row, allowing Arsenal to move within four points of them with a game in hand.

With a series of tough fixtures ahead including Swansea and Chelsea away and Everton and Manchester City at home, plus a Europa Cup quarter final to contend with, fans fear momentum lies with Arsenal in the race for a top-four finish.

Villas-Boas, however, disagrees. “When we last lost two games in a row we went on an amazing run,” he said. “We will raise our confidence. You can’t hide from the past at Spurs but we still have an opportunity to fight. It has been a difficult month for us and we will fight against this. We will find our form. I am very confident of that.”

Villas-Boas added that fans should forget how the club surrendered a 13-point lead last season to allow Arsenal to pip them to third.

He said: “I do not think it is in the Spurs psychology. We have enough important games to get out of this situation. There have been positive things going on in each of the games that did not go our way.”

His thoughts were echoed by Gylfi Sigurdsson. The Icelandic midfielder has fought his way into the starting XI since Christmas and said that, while losing two league games was disappointing, the team were in pole position. “We just need to pick ourselves up, stay together and perform well until the end of season,” he said. “It is in our hands and we are in a good position to make sure we get the Champions League spot.

“Even though we’ve had a couple of bad results we won’t start doubting ourselves. It’s down to us now and we have just got to make sure we are playing the way we’ve been playing throughout the season. We have got the determination to get into the Champions League.”
