THE sight of those deliriously happy Gooner faces, when Thierry Henry scored against lowly Leeds on Monday evening was both nostalgic and sad.
Henry provided the kind of finish that fans were treated to years ago: five years to be exact! So when the dust settles, isn’t this the worst thing that could have happened?
I understand the romance and the fact this will now be folklore.
In fact I’m sure the DVDs are already in the shops; Asda have run out of white T-shirts and that printing firms around north London have been inundated with requests for pressings of the heavily-bearded Henry holding a cross!
Put all that together and you’ve got a circus.
Aren’t you embarrassed?
The other thing the euphoric seem to forget is that Arsenal were terrible on the night and needed the returning patriarch to come on late in the game and show others how to score.
Are you OK with that?
Is this what the proud, supposedly all-conquering marauders of English football aspire to?
The tactics of a manager who no longer carries favour and disgusts some fans.
How long will it be before players ask questions about why a 28-year-old Premier League player is being substituted for a 34-year-old MLS veteran?
So instead of spending your hard-earned money on the said Asda T-shirts, commemorating these historic events, consider this: If Thierry Henry is the answer, what’s the question?
Come on you Spurs…
