In their latest monthly column, Camden Clean Air urge readers to keep an eye on the data

AS we enter spring and say hello to warmer days, longer and lighter evenings, and blossom on the trees, we will likely make more of an effort to spend time outdoors.

Whether that be cycling to work instead of taking the tube, spending time in parks and gardens, or simply taking lunchtime walks, we find ourselves re-connecting with nature and spending more time in the fresh air.

But how can we use air quality data to make sure we are protecting ourselves from harm and playing our part to ensure the air is safe for everyone?

If you are deciding to spend more time on bike or foot over these warmer months, then you can use airscape.ai to plot clean air walking or cycling routes to make sure you are avoiding any heavily polluted streets.

You can also use this data to decide on the best times during the day to make these trips or have your walk by using the real-time and history features.

Importantly, data should be used to encourage better and healthier behaviour for you and your family such as choosing active travel or increasing green space in your local community.

Contact thinkanddocamden@gmail.com to find out more about the Community Forest and how you can help green your local neighbourhood, or sign up to the Camden Clean Air Cycle Ride on Saturday 20 May.

With access to data and a better understanding of the causes and solutions surrounding air pollution, we can enter the warmer months excited to spend more time outside and do our bit in making Camden cleaner and greener.
