Victor Adegbesan has been jailed for six years and seven months
A MAN has been sent to jail – three years after raping a woman.
The Met police said it wanted Victor Adegbesan’s conviction to show how hard they worked to stop sex offenders.
It said 565 specialist officers had been added to units investigating rapes, domestic abuse, exploitation and safegaurding as part of its ‘New Met for London’ plan.
Adegbesan, 34, who lived in Camden Town, was handed a prison term of six years and seven months after the survivor of the attack quickly called police.
Detective Constable Max Orange, who led the investigation in Camden, said: “I commend the bravery of the victim-survivor for coming forward and reporting this abhorrent crime.
“The Met takes its responsibility to protect women and girls incredibly seriously. I am proud we secured justice for the victim-survivor putting one more dangerous predator behind bars.
DC Orange added: “We urge anyone who has been a victim of abuse – no matter how long ago – to please come forward to police and get the support you rightly deserve.”
The case at Wood Green Crown Court relates to Adegbsean’s attack in July 2021, which was described by police as a “frightening and horrific ordeal”. He pleaded guilty to two counts of rape.
Police said its officers gathered detailed medical records to show the extent of the abuse and develop a watertight case against Adegbesan.
