SANTI Cazorla is adamant that Arsenal will be “a big player” when it comes to competing for trophies over the coming years.
The Gunners take on Chelsea in a lunchtime kick off this Saturday at Stamford Bridge knowing that a win would leave them a point behind the Premier League leaders with a game in hand.
Arsene Wenger’s side are also favourites to win the FA Cup as they look to end a nine-year barren spell.
Cazorla (pictured) is so confident that success is just around the corner that he signed a new contract on Tuesday.
“I’m very happy at the club,” the Spanish international told Arsenal Player.
“I like being here. I’m happy and I think that the club can be a big player in competing for the top trophies in years to come.
“That’s important for me. One of the main reasons for coming here was to get better as a player and joining Arsenal has definitely made me a better player.”
Cazorla joined Aaron Ramsey, Tomas Rosicky, Per Mertesacker and highly-rated youngster Gedion Zelalem in putting pen to paper on a new deal.
He believes the growing stability within the club will only work to aid future success.
“Keeping the players we’ve got is important as they bring experience to the table,” he said.
“They know the club well and we’re all glad that they’ve committed themselves to Arsenal. This is vital for me, for the club and for the team.
“When too many changes are made it’s tough, so keeping everyone together can only be good for the team.”
