Some frail people need help handling bags and bins
Thursday, 6th April 2017
• I AM both elderly and somewhat disabled. That is, I can walk up and down the 27 steps to my flat very slowly and with a stick, but I can’t carry much with me.
My husband is also in his 80s. He can just about manage to carry our old garbage bag down and he can manage to collect the empty green bags, but nothing else.
We have neighbours who kindly take the green bags down when they are in town, but they frequently leave London. I don’t like to impose on them with all the extra furniture – the box for food waste, the big bag for mostly medical supplies, and the green bags!
I think Camden Council ought to arrange to pick up these things from people who cannot take them down or up themselves.
