So who should have a say on this cycle lane scheme?

Busy crossing in Prince of Wales Road

• SO if you live 240 metres or more from a traffic scheme you cannot be affected by it, so the Local Government Ombudsman, a national body, cannot consider what you have to say. You are beyond the pale, (Ombudsman puts a limit on your right to be consulted, March 5).

So where does that leave Camden’s evaluation of responses to its consultation on a cycle lane on Prince of Wales Road?

Their report on the responses says that only 9 per cent came from the consultation area; 46 per cent from somewhere else in Camden and 44 per cent from outside Camden.

Either the ombudsman is wrong in the decision to ignore anyone from over 240 metres away or Camden is wrong to take account of at least 90 per cent of respondents. They can’t both be right.
