WANNABE pro snooker players will be cuing up to meet their heroes on Sunday after an invite to Alexandra Palace for the opening day of the Masters Championships.

Pocket rockets from the Gone-2-Pot children’s snooker club, which is based at the Hurricane Rooms in King’s Cross, will be hoping to get top tips from the stars of the game, including world No 2 Stuart Bingham and world No 4 Shaun Murphy.

Gone-2-Pot founder John Woods, who will be running the Cue Zone, where visitors will be treated to games and potting challenges, says he can’t wait for the tournament to get going. “I’ve got about 20 children coming up from the club to take part in the fun, and hopefully meet a few of the stars of the game.

“It’s going to be a great day,” he said.

Meanwhile, members from Gone-2-Pot turned out in force for the club’s end-of-year awards presentation just before Christmas.

Among the winners were Adam Stacey 15, Lennard Cripps 15, and Jackson Song 12, who finished first, second and third respectively in the Player-of-the-Year awards. There were also trophies for Connor Foran 14, who was named most improved player, and Lee Whaley, 13, who showed the most sportsmanship in 2015.
