Sixty residents petitioned against these telecoms masts

• IN November 2019 a letter from Camden Council informed residents of Haddo House that a telecoms masts would be installed on our roof and an application has now been submitted.
Telecoms masts are well known to be a controversial issue and this programme was likely to cause upset.
It did… 60 residents signed a petition asking Camden and the telecoms company to site the mast elsewhere.
Nobody can say that there is zero risk of negative health effects of long-term, close and constant exposure to the emissions, including 5G – research is ongoing.
Is it fair to ask residents of council blocks to unfairly bear any risk at all?
Haddo House is a well-regarded local landmark and can be seen from very many places in the area.
The masts will add to visual clutter, detracting from these views, and be a permanent reminder of how the council and Telefonica ran roughshod over its residents.
Camden agreed to market its rooftops to telecoms companies (for much-needed funds) after a report to cabinet based on a sham consultation with a small number of residents, the findings of which it will not share.
A 2017 change in planning laws makes this scheme much less profitable. Time to step away and listen to residents.
The planning application number is 2020/1456/P and comments can be made until May 6.
