NEWCOMER Natalia Bloch (pictured) was among scores of enthusiastic young players who got the chance to enjoy their first competitive taste of the beautiful game at the FA’s Sir Bobby Robson National Football Day.

One of Islington Borough Ladies’ newest signings, the Under-9s recruit joined in a day of celebrations at Chase Lodge Playing Fields in Barnet.

Coached by Islington Football Development’s Sasha Kelly, youngsters took part in a series of friendly matches against teams from around north London.

“The National Football Day is an FA initiative to encourage new players and coaches to get involved with the game – and it certainly did that,” said Islington Football Development Officer, Steven Fraser.

“On the pitch we had players participating in their first refereed game and then, on the sideline, we had Sasha gaining valuable coaching experience. So a great experience for all involved.”

Islington Borough Ladies are always searching for players aged seven to 18. Anyone interested can email steven.fraser @aquaterra.org for details.
