Sir Alan Greengross

• I WAS so sorry to read of the passing away of Sir Alan Greengross who was respected even by members of other parties for his tremendous work for Camden and indeed the overall community, (Sir Alan Greengross, the Conservative ‘insider critic’ who almost saw off Thatcher, August 30).

He was a great fighter for disabled people and their concerns and needs, which I respected as a disabled person myself. He was a hard-working Camden councillor and leader of the Tories and a GLC representative and we are so sorry that he has passed away.

His friendship was appreciated by all, whatever our political differences were and are and our sincere condolences to Baroness Sally Greengross and family.
