CAMDEN’S most famous cat has tried out the Town Hall’s new cargo bike scheme along with her dutiful owner.
The scheme, based in a hangar in Somers Town, offers residents and businesses the chance to rent the £5,000 bikes for free in the hope that they’ll go on to buy one and make the move away from cars.
Gerry Del Guercio from Cycling Instructors Ltd who runs the scheme for the council, said: “It’s been really successful, we have 15 bikes in total and there’s almost always a waiting list.”
Users need to supply a £300 deposit and borrowers must have secure off road parking where they can store the bike.
Cyclist Travis Nelson, who makes viral videos cycling around London with his Norwegian Forest cat, said: “I think Sigrid is a big fan – the basket is a lot bigger than on my bike.”
