Sian Berry was first elected in 2014

• I WANT to express my gratitude to Siân Berry for her dedicated service as a councillor in Highgate over the last nine years, (A privilege, the most rewarding job of my life, October 19).

Siân and I joined the council at the same time in 2014 and I was immediately impressed by the tenacity she showed in holding Camden to account, as well as her commitment to representing the Highgate community.

We then became colleagues when I left the Labour Party to join the Green Party two years ago, and I have been grateful for her support, guidance, and friendship since then.

Her tireless efforts to address the needs of Camden, from promoting environmental sustainability to championing social equality, have not gone unnoticed.

She has made a big difference to the lives of residents living right across our borough and she will be sorely missed by many. Brighton will be lucky to have her as their next Member of Parliament.

I am honoured that Camden Green Party have placed their trust in me as candidate in the forthcoming Highgate by-election.

I know have huge shoes to fill but I am ready to take on the challenge and will work hard to ensure that Greens continue to have a voice on the council.
